Doug recently gave a sermon in which he spoke about Jesus feeding the 5,000, and he did the math on approximately how many individual meals we’ve served through the years here at the River of Life Ministry in Romania. He averaged about how many people have been living here, times three meals per day, times how many per week, and per year, times 27 years, and he came up with about a million meals served through here! We’ve never once sat down at the table and not had a meal to eat in all those 27 years! That is a miracle—something only God could do! This verse came to my mind when I heard that.

“Truly, truly, I say to you. Whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do because I am going to the Father.” John 14:12.

Jesus is the living God! The LORD gives those who believe in Him and who have received His gift of salvation, His Holy Spirit. He lives and works in us and through us, accomplishing His will and purposes to fulfill His plans. He raises up the Body of Christ —those empowered and enabled by His Spirit to do the things He wants done. He unites us in His Spirit and works through His Spirit. And because we are united in this way and in His purposes, together as His Body, united in Christ Jesus, we can do even more together, empowered by His Spirit, than even He did when He walked the earth! That’s truly amazing! And it’s true. We are each just a small part of what God is accomplishing in this world through the members of His Body. Jesus fed 5,000, but working together, united in His Spirit, just through this ministry alone, He’s fed a million meals! I thought that was interesting to think about. It’s empowering, really. And encouraging!
